Welcome to Our Provence Retreat House

Nestled in the heart of Les Taillades, our retreat house is the cherished project of Swanie Simon, a renowned European herbalist with over 35 years of experience in traditional plant medicine. Born in Germany but having spent thirty years in the USA, Swanie has dedicated her life to holistic healing, specializing in herbal treatments and natural wellness. She studied under legendary herbalists including Juliette de Bairacli Levy, Matthew Wood, Rosemary Gladstar, Michael Moore, and Rosalee de la Fôret, and is one of Europe’s most respected authors and practitioners in her field.

Throughout the house, you’ll discover a unique blend of healing arts and creative expression. Original artwork from local Provençal artists adorns the walls alongside Swanie’s own creations, while herbal work products and traditional tools reflect the deep connection to plant medicine that infuses this special space.

Our retreat house combines the quiet of the Luberon National Park with the convenience of a Provençal village just a short walk away. The property spans 5000 m², half of it fully fenced and dog-friendly, with an electric gate, shaded terraces, and a saltwater pool next to a lavender field with our very own olive grove nearby. All windows and most doors have screens, making it possible to keep windows and doors open.

Inside, the house offers five bedrooms furnished entirely with single beds, accommodating up to 14 guests. Upstairs, two rooms share a full bath — one with three beds and a balcony, the other with two beds plus a cozy alcove that holds an additional bed. Downstairs are three further bedrooms: a large sunny four-bed room with terrace access (with a separate shower and toilet); a pool-view two bed apartment-style room with kitchenette and private bath; and another pool-view room with two beds and its own private bath.

Communal spaces include the living room with projector and screen for presentations, a fully equipped kitchen, multiple terraces, and a workroom with a large sink, extra storage and appliances. Beyond lies a covered outdoor dining area with seating for 30, perfect for group meals, workshops, or evenings under the Provençal sky.

This house is best suited for groups who value authenticity, nature, and simplicity over luxury. Whether it’s an art or yoga workshop, a meditation or herbalism retreat, or simply a gathering of friends, colleagues, or women’s groups — this is a place to slow down, reconnect, and be inspired. The rooms are modest, all with twin beds, and shared bathrooms, but the setting is charming and deeply peaceful, surrounded by the beauty of nature, and infused with a sense of healing and calm. With the lavender field, the olive grove, and the refreshing saltwater pool, it’s the perfect backdrop for meaningful time together.

To make your stay effortless, we also offer optional services that bring the best of Provence right to you. Our wonderful cook, Océane, prepares authentic Provençal dishes with a hint of Moroccan flair — whether you’d like a few shared meals or full catering throughout your stay. And with our trusted local partner, Isabelle, you can dive deeper into the region: explore markets and hidden villages, arrange field trips, enjoy smooth translation, and have someone on hand to handle the details so you can fully relax. Together, they help turn a simple retreat into an unforgettable Provençal experience.
